Injured Ireland skipper Briggs vows to return for Six Nations

The goal-kicking fullback suffered an ankle injury in training over the weekend.

INJURED IRELAND CAPTAIN Niamh Briggs has vowed to return to international duty next year.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the fullback issued thanks to the people who had wished her well after she suffered a training ground Achilles injury just 10 days out from the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

After spending the months since facing New Zealand in a November international rehabilitating a hamstring injury, Briggs also dispelled any notion that she would step away from international rugby before her 33rd birthday, saying her focus is firmly on “getting back stronger for next year’s Six Nations.”
