Well hello there, you’re looking well.
The best place to start is probably with a list of today’s early games – and there’s a lot of them:
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens
Buffalo Bills @ Chicago Bears
Washington @ Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans @ Kansas City Chiefs
Oakland Raiders @ New York Jets
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Phildelphia Eagles
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Minnesota Vikings @ St. Louis Rams
7 Sep 2014
6:03PM
So, 252 days since the last full Sunday of NFL games and Sky Sports decide to start with New England on the road to Miami.
Good choice?
We’ll be keeping an eye on NFL Redzone too.
7 Sep 2014
6:04PM
So what’s a hangout? It’s a place where NFL fans get to chat about the games, big talking points, insane catches and anything else in between.
Will you be watching tonight and which game are you keeping an eye on?

I don’t know about you, but we spent an inordinate amount of time this weekend setting and resetting our fantasy football line ups.
What’s the best fantasy football team name you’ve seen this season? Let us know below and I’ll feature some of them of them here.
Steve is taking a well-earned break, so I am jumping in to take over (he has actually been let go). So what has your favourite moment of the early games been so far? Personally, I’ve really enjoyed seeing the Jags put it up to the Eagles.
In the meantime, enjoy this sick touchdown run from Minnesota’s Cordarrelle Patterson against St Louis. The Rams look to be seriously suffering in the absence of quarterback Sam Bradford.

8:33PM
The Browns are currently driving to tie the game against Pittsburgh. Coach Mike Pettine went with Brian Hoyer over Johnny Football, which I didn’t agree with at the time. Would be hard to argue with the choice if Cleveland come away with a win tonight.
7 Sep 2014
8:35PM
Just as I say that, Hoyer has tied the game at 27-27 with a pass to Travis Benjamin. But I want Johnny Football, dammit!
Kansas were one of the league’s surprise packages last year, going 11-5 after a 2-14 record in 2012. But they are 23-3 down at home to Tennessee at the moment and look at their next four games: at Broncos, at Miami, New England, at San Francisco. Think they will be closer to 2-14 than 11-5 this year. Poor Andy Reid and his little moustache.
The Falcons have taken the lead against the Saints and Matt Ryan is playing pretty damn efficiently.
Whoops!

I’m not a huge Ryan fan (how can you be called Matty Ice when you have only won a single playoff game?!) but you can’t argue with those numbers.

We have some full-time results and the Houston Texans have snapped a 14 game losing streak with a 17-6 win over the Washington Redskins, who themselves have now lost nine straight.
Remember when RG3 was lighting it up for the Redskins? I know he was recovering from a serious injury last year but some of his behaviour was pretty petulant. He really earned the nickname RGMe.
Also, the New York Jets have beaten the Oakland Raiders 19-14 and the Minnesota Vikings beat the St Louis Rams 34-6.
In the NFL mean tweets video, Baltimore Ravens receiver Steve Smith took great exception to being called an 80-year old man. He obviously isn’t that geriatric but he still has some old man strength to call on. Just look at how he punctuates this 80-yard touchdown.
We have had three dramatic field goals in the last few minutes. First, Shaun Suisham kicked a walk-off game winner for the Steelers to beat the Browns 30-27. Then, Matt Bryant sent the Falcons-Saints game to overtime with a successful kick for Atlanta.
And to complete the trifecta, Dan Carpenter kicked an overtime field goal for Buffalo to win against Chicago on the road.
When multiple NFL games are unfolding like this simultaneously, it makes you want to celebrate like an F1 driver on a podium. Although, maybe don’t be as lewd as Mark Webber.
The good news? The early games featured some cracking finishes. The bad news? There are only two late games: San Francisco @ Dallas and Carolina @ Tampa Bay. There might be a lot less action to watch now, but just take a deep breath and follow Michael Scott’s advice.
It took the rabid 49ers defence less than one minute to strip Dallas Cowboys running back Demarco Murray and score a touchdown. Cornerback Chris Culliver got the score.
In the Carolina-Tampa Bay game, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is injured so Derek Anderson starts in his place. According to Redzone, this is the first game Cam Newton has missed through injury at any level.
For those not familiar with Derek Anderson, here is some of his best work.
What was the biggest shock of the early games for you? Buffalo beating Chicago in Soldier field is a very impressive win and Miami made a statement in comprehensively dispatching New England. The Jacksonville Jaguars led Philadelphia 17-3……but lost 34-17. My god, I would hate to be a Jags fan. Are there any of you out there?
To cheer up fans of the losing teams, here is Rob Ford, who is the mayor of Toronto, trying to play football.
The San Francisco 49ers gave Colin Kaepernick a huge contract extension during the summer, and plays like this are the reason why. Not only does he have the ability to evade defensive pressure, but he can turn scrambles into big plays like this throw to Vernon Davis. The 49ers lead the Cowboys 14-3 and it is still 0-0 between the Panthers and the Bucs.
Ron Rivera told his Panthers to go for it on fourth down and they converted it. You now what that means ladies and gentlemen: Riverboat Ron is back, baby!
Ireland has quite a large number of New England Patriots fans and they are hurting tonight after the Patriots loss to the Dolphins. This stat is unlikely to make them feel any better.
This is 1st time since Tom Brady became starter that NE has been in sole possession of last place in AFC East. (via @EliasSports)
The Carolina Panthers lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-0 at half-time despite the absence of their stud quarterback Cam Newton. But even though Newton can’t play, he has still been out on the field motivating, coaxing and cajoling the players.
How are your fantasy teams doing tonight? I’ve been locked out of my Yahoo account for the last week, so my team was autopicked for me even though I had the first pick in the draft. I still haven’t been able to see who I selected first!
I imagine people who have Tony Romo are in the a ball in the corner of their room crying, while owners of Matt Ryan are smoking a fat cigar on their coach while rubbing their belly and laughing gutturally.
Kickers really don’t get any respect. Look at Carolina Panther’s Greg Gano, who has to fight a band member just to get a few yards of turf to practice his kicks.
So what do we think of the 49ers so far tonight? Their defence has been tigerish as usual and Kaepernick’s playmaking ability looks as good as ever. The class of the NFL looks to be firmly in the NFC West but who is better, the Seahawks or the 49ers?
Personally, I like the 49ers but we all remember what happened the last time they played.
Many people doubted the Carolina Panther’s chances this year after letting legendary receiver Steve Smith go in the off-season but they have been excellent all game today and first round pick Kelvin Benjamin just caught this ridiculous touchdown to give them a 17-0 lead in Tampa Bay.
And remember that it’s Derek Anderson throwing to Benjamin today, not Cam Newton. Sure Benjamin would probably have five or six touchdowns if stud Newton was under centre.
There was a big milestone in the Cowboys-49ers game for San Francisco running back Frank Gore as he became the 29th player to pass the 10’000 yard career rushing mark.
Remember when I posted the Rob Ford GIF earlier? Well this attempt, from actual NFL quarterback Josh McCown, isn’t much better. It might be a long year for Tampa Bay.
And once again, just for the purpose of comparison.
It is a great day for Ireland and for Monaghan in particular, as Patrick Murray, who’s father is from the Farney county, is making his NFL debut for Tampa Bay. Granted, his side are being beaten 17-7 at home to the Panthers, but that is hardly Murray’s fault.
Tampa have come roaring back in their game with the Panthers and are now just 17-14 down with two minutes to go. Remember what I said about Josh McCown at 23.41? Well Josh, all I can say is….actually I’ll let Jack do it.
So the Panthers are running out the clock against Tampa and San Francisco have an almost unassailable 28-10 lead in Dallas. But ESPN’s Adam Schefter has some news that will make Houston Texans fans feel seriously ill.
Texans fear No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney has a meniscus tear that could require arthroscopic surgery, per source.
The NFL season may only be in its first weekend but that doesn’t mean it is too soon for resident media moron Skip Bayless (of ESPN) to pipe up with some knee-jerk opinion made up entirely of bullshit. Here he takes aim at Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, who if you go back to 22.29, clearly was putting his body on the line for his team.
How can Dez Bryant, in the season opener, when his team has a chance to get back in the game, check out of the 4th q w/ "dehydration"?
Carolina and San Francisco both laid down impressive markers in their opening fixtures. The last game tonight is the Indianapolis Colts at the Denver Broncos where Peyton Manning will take on his old team for the second time.
He lost last year’s encounter and to set the mood for this game, here’s last season’s emotional promo.
That is all for thescore.ie’s inaugural NFL hangout. I hope you enjoyed the gifs, vines, tweets and photos from all of the week one action. Thanks for getting in touch with comments and I hope you can all join us again next week for another slate of games.

What’s the best fantasy football team name you’ve seen this season? Let us know below and I’ll feature some of them of them here.
Here are the early scores:
Redzone Redzone
Here’s Derek Carr’s first career touchdown for the Raiders.
Niall Kelly, deputy editor of TheScore.ie is a Jets fan. You can imagine I’m enjoying sitting right across from him right now.
It’s an oldie but still love this map of where NFL teams are based:
I’d be surprised if we see Tyler Eifert back on a football field any times soon after dislocating his elbow:
I’m pretty sure Antonio Brown was trying to hurdle the Browns’ punter but he went full Jackie Chan – Jackie Chan is still a thing, right? – on him.
This looks like it hurt:
Remember that time the Ravens paid Joe Flacco all that money?
I hope somebody in the Ravens kept that receipt.
One of the biggest shocks of the day so far is the Jaguars’ lead over the Eagles.
Darren Sproles just put a dent in it:
They’ve both been awful.
You could throw the Ravens in there too so far:
Steve is taking a well-earned break, so I am jumping in to take over (he has actually been let go). So what has your favourite moment of the early games been so far? Personally, I’ve really enjoyed seeing the Jags put it up to the Eagles.

Just as I say that, Hoyer has tied the game at 27-27 with a pass to Travis Benjamin. But I want Johnny Football, dammit!
Maurice Jones-Drew of the Oakland Raiders just channelled his inner Paolo Di Canio with this cheeky bicycle kick.
Kansas were one of the league’s surprise packages last year, going 11-5 after a 2-14 record in 2012. Here is a full round up of the final scores from the early games (road team first):
New England Patriots 20 Miami Dolphins 33
New Orleans Saints 34 Atlanta Falcons 37
Cincinnati Bengals 23 Baltimore Ravens 16
Buffalo Bills 23 Chicago Bears 20
Washington 6 Houston Texans 17
Tennessee Titans 26 Kansas City Chiefs 10
Oakland Raiders 19 New York Jets 14
Jacksonville Jaguars 17 Phildelphia Eagles 34
Cleveland Browns 27 Pittsburgh Steelers 30
Minnesota Vikings 34 St. Louis Rams 6
I think fake John Madden sums how Irish NFL fans feel right now.

Ireland has quite a large number of New England Patriots fans and they are hurting tonight after the Patriots loss to the Dolphins. This stat is unlikely to make them feel any better.
Another season, another dumb Tony Romo interception. He just can’t help himself, can he?
I will leave this here without further comment….
Whoops!

I don’t want to keep harping on about Tony Romo’s performance but look at this stat.
I’m confused, does this mean he is having an efficient game or a nightmare? Either way, his team are 21-3 down to the 49ers as we approach half-time.

There was a big milestone in the Cowboys-49ers game for San Francisco running back Frank Gore as he became the 29th player to pass the 10’000 yard career rushing mark.
Considering 13 of those 29 players are in the hall of fame and nine aren’t eligible yet, it is safe to say that Gore is in some special company.
Remember when I posted the Rob Ford GIF earlier? Well this attempt, from actual NFL quarterback Josh McCown, isn’t much better. It might be a long year for Tampa Bay.
