Ireland set to change home kit... again

Shirt manufacturers Umbro have announced that the Boys in Green will wear a new strip against Germany next month.

IRELAND WILL LINE out in a new kit when they face Germany next month, it was announced today.

The Boys in Green host the three-time world champions in their Brazil 2014 qualifier at Lansdowne Road on October 12, and manufacturers Umbro Ireland have unveiled that the new jersey will be available to buy a week before the game on October 5.

The current home kit, which was the team’s first-choice strip at Euro 2012, was only released 12 months ago and has been worn a total of eight times by the senior team, while the previous one got a run-out for 12 international games between February 2010 and August 2011.

With fans paying €60 for the jersey, which obviously rises when the shorts and socks are included, the decision by the FAI to change it yet again is likely to be met with a negative reaction.

Pictures of what is believed to be the new shirt have been leaked on a number of websites, including GreenScene.me, in the last couple of hours.
