It took more than 250 hours to make a new FA Cup for tomorrow's final. Here's how they did it

“An historic moment in the proud 143-year history of The FA Cup,” says FA General Secretary Alex Horne.

SOME TIME AROUND 7pm tomorrow night, we’ll know whether Arsenal or Hull are the 2014 FA Cup champions.

Whoever it is, they will lift a brand-spanking new trophy for the very first time.

The FA went behind the scenes with silversmiths Thomas Lyte of London as they spent more than 250 hours handcrafting the new cup ahead of its Wembley debut.

The trophy is the third version of the iconic design which has been in use since 1911.

A new trophy was commissioned in 1992 but that had to be replaced this season after years of drops and dents took their toll.
