Neil Warnock has been sacked by Crystal Palace after six games without a win

The Eagles are currently in the relegation zone.

NEIL WARNOCK HAS become the first managerial casualty of the Premier League season after he was sacked by Crystal Palace this morning.

The 66-year-old took over at Selhurst Park in August after the abrupt departure of Tony Pulis but has won just three of his 18 Premier League games in charge.

A six-game winless run, which extends back to the victory over Liverpool in November, has seen Palace slip into the bottom three.

The 3-1 home defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day – during which fans voiced their anger at the manager for substituting Yannick Bolasie – has prompted the club’s hierarchy to relieve Warnock of his duties after just four months at the helm.

“Crystal Palace Football Club can today confirm that Neil Warnock has been relieved of his duties and is no longer first-team manager,” a short statement said.

“The club would like to put on record its thanks to Neil for all his hard work and energy over the past four months.”

It was Warnock’s second spell in charge at Palace after spending three years at Selhurt Park between 2007 and 2010.

First-team coach Keith Millen is expected to take temporary charge for Sunday’s visit to fellow strugglers QPR.

Warnock was appointed at the start of the current season after Pulis departed 48 hours before the campaign got underway.
