Warnock condemns Chelsea over ref saga

‘I’m sure he might have said a few things but if Chelsea had won that game there would not have been one iota of a complaint.’

NEIL WARNOCK WANTS Chelsea to face serious repercussions if the accusations towards referee Mark Clattenburg are untrue.

The Leeds United manager believes Chelsea’s complaint to the FA is a case of sour grapes.

Clattenburg is alleged to have used ‘inappropriate language’ towards Blues midfielders Jon-Obi Mikel and Juan Mata in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

But Warnock is convinced that Roberto Di Matteo’s men are looking for someone to blame after Chicharito’s late winner ended their unbeaten start to the season.

Despite admitting that the Durham-born official was wrong to send Fernando Torres off for diving following a challenge from Jonny Evans, the Leeds boss is ‘disgusted’ by the west London club’s conduct and wants them brought to justice should their claims turn out to be false.

“I’m disgusted at what has gone on. I am on Mark Clattenburg’s side,” he told talkSPORT. “We ask referees to deal with it and man-manage and that’s what he does, Clattenburg. I’m sure he might have said a few things but if Chelsea had won that game there would not have been one iota of a complaint.

“I think he’s made a mistake (in sending off Torres) but Chelsea are trying to kill him because of that and I don’t agree with it at all. If it is proved wrong whatever Chelsea players alleged that Mark said, I hope they get done.

“Would it have happened if they won the game? I don’t think it would have done.”

Wholly agree. only said the same Sunday evening. Can you imagine the abuse and swearing referees get every weekend. If they were to report everything every week there would be players banned left right and centre!
