LeBron James, who is averaging 29 points during the playoffs, posted 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Dwyane Wade added 28 points as the Heat triumphed to take a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven semi-finals series.
Shane Battier (13 points), Mario Chalmers (eight points, 11 rebounds) and Udonis Haslem (10 points) all contributed in a match where the Heat never trailed and shot a franchise playoff record 61 percent — the best of any team during the 2012 playoffs.
“This is our challenge right now, to leave it behind us,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. ”A lot of good things tonight, but we have to focus on the next one.”
Paul George top-scored for Indiana with 11 points, while Danny Granger and David West registered 10 before both left the court injured in the third quarter.
The Pacers’ defeat leaves them needing victory in Game 6 to avoid elimination.
A win for the Heat would mean a final against either the Boston Celtics or the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston lead that series 3-2.
