TEMPLEOGUE EDGED PAST Pyrobel Killester in the second of the weekend’s Men’s National Cup semi-finals to book their place in the showpiece decider for the first time.
Mark Keenan’s side won by a basket on a scoreline of 61-59 at the Mardyke Arena in Cork to set-up a clash with Swords Thunder in the final.

Killester led for much of the contest in-front of a large crowd but were eventually reeled in by Tempelogue in what turned out to be a low-scoring thriller.
“You could see we were tired at the end of the game,” Mark Keenan, who has won this competition in the past with both Killester and UL Eagles, said afterwards.
“Killester were tired too. It was that kind of game. I’m just delighted we were able to pull it out at the finish.”
It wasn’t all disappointment for the Killester club, however, as their Women’s side are on their way back to the final following a dramatic win over Maxol WIT Wildcats earlier this evening.

It was an evenly fought contest throughout but Killester pulled away in the final quarter to record a 72-65 victory to advance to their second final in as many years.
They will face Glanmire after the Cork club defeated Meteors 77-61 in the day’s final game.
