BRITISH BOXER NATASHA Jonas has announced her decision to turn professional, but warned that a rematch against her old Olympic rival Katie Taylor is far from inevitable.
Liverpool’s Jonas and Taylor met in the lightweight quarter-finals at the 2012 Olympics, the first of three wins for Taylor as she went on to claim gold in London.

Jonas, who first started boxing in 2005, won a European Union title and World Championship bronze during her amateur days before stepping away from the sport two years ago while pregnant.
Now she’s returning to the ring to work with Joe Gallagher, the trainer who has masterminded the rise of Anthony Crolla, Liam Smith and Scott Quigg among others.
“The decision to leave boxing was a harder choice. The decision to go back was a lot easier,” she told Sky Sports on Tuesday.
“I think [a rematch with Taylor] is what everyone would like to see and if you were one of the 10,000 that was sitting in the crowd that night I’m not shocked because the noise was unbelievable and the atmosphere was unbelievable.
“It was one of the best nights of boxing I have ever seen but I’m on a personal journey and if that means us meeting in the end, then we’ll see.”
