Nani welcomes shiny new signing Young, pretends not to be worried about his place

Nani has welcomed the arrival of Ashley Young at Manchester United and dismissed concerns over his future at the club.

MANCHESTER UNITED WINGER Nani, clearly worried about the threat posed to his position at the club by Ashley Young, says he is not worried about the threat posed to his position at the club by Ashley Young.

The 25-year-old Young moved to the Premier League champions last week from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee thought to be between 87p and €25.3billion.

Nani’s role on the left wing immediately came under scrutiny as factoid after factoid about Young’s assist-ratio being second only to Cesc Fabregas over the last five seasons was wheeled out by the press, here and here and not here.

The Portuguese is playing it cool, however, insisting that the club needs to make top class signings in order to yadda yadda major trophies etc etc.

“Of course I have to welcome everyone they sign, I think Man United is a fantastic club,” he lied.

“When they bring in new players, they know if it is good for the team or not, and this (the Young signing) has to help them. It is good for the team – we want more players to help us to win trophies.”
