THE DOCTOR WHO treated Rafael Nadal’s foot injury says the Spaniard’s Wimbledon defence will not be derailed by the knock.
The world number one faces Mardy Fish today but Nadal had feared that his championship was over earlier this week.
Nadal suffered the injury to his left foot at the start of his fourth-round victory over Juan Martin Del Potro.
A scan revealed only minor swelling of a tendon in the foot yesterday and Dr Ignacio Munoz is confident Nadal will be good to go today.
“There is no risk in him playing,” Munoz said. ”You can see that he is training quite normally. I don’t think he will have any problems.”
Before Nadal’s game on Court One, Australian teenager Bernard Tomic faces Novak Djokovic.
