CJ Stander on the double as Munster do enough to begin season on a winning note

Anthony Foley’s men didn’t have it all their own way.

Munster 18

Treviso 13

MUNSTER PRODUCED AN improved second-half performance to begin their season on a winning note, beating Treviso 18-13 at Musgrave Park.

Anthony Foley’s side trailed the Italians by a point at the break but two tries from captain CJ Stander after the interval set the hosts on their way to an opening weekend victory.

Flanker Dean Budd had stunned the hosts as he crossed the line in the 10th minute to reply to Keatley’s early penalty.

Munster responded but a succession of errors meant they were unable to gain any sort of momentum, although Keatley’s boot ensured they remained within just one score of the visitors.

And Munster were quickly out of the blocks after the restart with Stander touching down twice in ten minutes to turn the tide and complete the comeback.

Foley’s charges travel to Ospreys next Sunday.
