Mum's the word as Katie Taylor's mother to take part in Dublin's Olympic torch relay

Bridget Taylor will represent London-bound boxer.

THE FULL LIST of those who will carry the Olympic torch when it crosses south and heads for Dublin have been revealed this afternoon.

The Olympic Council of Ireland outlined plans, earlier this month, for the flame to be met by by Barcelona Olympic boxing heroes Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth on Wednesday, 6 June before touring the capital with well-known athletes, celebrities and members of the public.

Now, with the likes of Kenneth Egan, Sonia O’Sullivan and Jedward already pencilled in for the relay, the full set-up has been finalised.

Though her daughter will be preparing for her gold medal bid in August, Katie Taylor’s mother Bridget will represent the four-time world champion at the event. The Bray woman was one of the country’s first female boxing referees and, having been nominated by the OCI, will be representing her daughter and ‘all mums’.

Ireland’s most well-known jockey, Ruby Walsh will also feature on the day as well as former Irish rugby international Denis Hickie.

The torch will stop in the Olympic Council of Ireland offices in Howth for a ceremonial reception before taking in locations like Croke Park — where hurling star Henry Shefflin takes centre-stage on the new Etihad Skyline –- as well as Sheriff Street and St Stephen’s Green.

Up to 40 torchbearers will participate over the course of the day.
