Movember power rankings: the top 10 sporting mos, week 2

Who is up and who is down? We rate the best sporting facial hair at the half-way point in Movember 2013.

LAST WEEK WE kicked off our annual Movember power rankings where we take your favourite sports stars, scrutinise their facial hair and then arbitrarily rank it.

There’s plenty of change in this week’s update as we hit the half-way point of the month. Some are up, some are down… and some have failed to provide any sort of update over the last week and so have dropped out completely. We’re looking at you, Luke Fitzgerald and Jordi Murphy.

Without further ado, here are the latest standings. As always, if we’ve missed anyone, let us know in the comments section. You still have two weeks to make a difference.

Movember power rankings: the top 10 sporting mos, week 2
1 / 10
  • 10. Cian Healy

Don't get us wrong, Healy's isn't a bad effort by any stretch of the imagination, but we've come to expect better from the Ireland prop.
  • 9. Owen Farrell

Farrell has obviously been taking good care of his nose neighbour over the last while. He's a new entry at number nine.
  • 8. Paul Durcan

Donegal keeper Paul Durcan had the audacity to walk into Croke Park looking like this during the week. For that alone, he gets in at number eight.
  • 7. Shane Lowry

You might think number seven is a bit high for Shane Lowry but let's be honest, he's taken us by surprise with this nice little number.
  • 6. Patrick Hyland

Hyland goes for some creative shaping. It's full of promise but we'll need to see some improvement before we bump him up into the Champions League places.
  • 5. Tim Murtagh

We don't know if Tim Murtagh uses a ruler or what to get his mo' so straight but we applaud him.
  • 4. Nick Cummins

Cummins gets bonus points for his curly mop -- but let's hope this is the only thing he has to smile about today.
  • 3. Mathieu Bastareaud

The readers called a stewards' enquiry on last week's number one, Mathieu Bastareaud. We're not entirely convinced that this is a legit attempt either so he drops down to number three this week.
  • 2. Dom Waldouck

THIS is what we're talking about. Dom Waldouck not only has good growth but he doesn't mind looking like a complete eejit either. Fair play.
  • 1. Diarmuid 'Gizzy' Ling

A new entry goes straight in at number one. We can see a few patches in Gizzy's handlebars but he gets bonus points for the Ron Burgundy look. We're very easily swayed.
