MOUNT SION WILL play De La Salle in a mouth-watering Waterford Senior Hurling semi-final next weekend.
Sion booked their place in the final four with 1-21 to 0-15 win against Abbeyside in Walsh Park this afternoon.
The game was only three minutes old when Richie Roche struck the only goal and despite playing against the wind in the first half, Mount Sion led by the minimum at the break, 1-7 to 0-9.
Martin O’Neill finished with 12 points, including a monster from inside his own half, in a nine-point win.
In Sunday’s second game, Ballygunner set up a semi-final against Dungarvan with a comfortable 11-point win over Lismore.
Goals from Stephen Power, JJ Hutchinson and Harley Barnes proved crucial for Ballygunner who played most of the second half with 14 men after substitute Paul Coughlan was shown a straight red.

Waterford SHC semi-finals
- Mount Sion v De La Salle, Saturday 20 Sept, 5.30pm, Walsh Park
- Dungarvan v Ballygunner, Sunday 21 Sept, 7pm, Fraher Field
Would clash with All Ireland football final on Sunday afternoon. Double header on Saturday at 5pm would have worked
7pm for the semi hope they have lights in Fraher field
They do…. But 7pm on a Sunday is still a balls of a time for players n supporters!
What a stupid time Sunday should be 3 or half 3
What is it about Waterford senior club hurling times. The day is long enough besides throwing on the lights. Joke of a time really.
