Joe Schmidt gets his hands on more silverware

The mantelpiece at Chez Schmidt is starting to fill up.

IRELAND HEAD COACH Joe Schmidt has been named the Philips Manager of the Month for March.

Last month, Schmidt guided his side to successive Six Nations titles for the first time since 1949, courtesy of four wins from Ireland’s five games.

The campaign, which also featured victories over Italy, France and England, culminated in a dramatic finale on the final day as Ireland defeated Scotland on a 40-10 scoreline at Murrayfield to take the championship on points difference.

Schmidt, who was named Philips Manager of the Year in 2014, has now won the Manager of the Month award on four occasions since 2011.

The 49-year-old New Zealander will be aiming to continue his progress with Ireland later this year when he leads the team to the Rugby World Cup in England.

Let’s hope Joe Schmidt’s next Manager of the Month award comes in October.
