DUBLINER CATHAL PENDRED extended his magnificent unbeaten run in London yesterday, beating Gael Grimaud to claim a welterweight title.
Nicknamed ‘The Punisher’, Pendred’s bout headlined the Cage Warriors 52 event in London.
The Irish fighter showed his range of skills in the bout, working hard to bounce back after sustaining early hits from the Frenchman.
Grimaud’s moves would catch the eye, but a consistent level of aggression and control would see the 25-year-old edge the contest thanks to take-downs in the fourth and fifth rounds.
“I feel on top of the world,”He said while holding his new belt. “Hard work, dedication and sacrifice pays off. Here’s the proof of that.”

He added:“I knew I could do that. I’ve been trying to get this fight for a while,” Pendred said. “I knew I could beat him like that. I felt like I had more in me.”
