MMA fighter dies after hit-and-run incident

25-year-old Jordan Parsons was struck by a vehicle in Florida and passed away today.

AN AMERICAN MMA fighter has passed away after being struck by a Range Rover in Florida.

Featherweight Jordan Parsons, who most recently competed at Bellator 146 back in November, was the victim of a hit-and-run incident in Delray Beach on Sunday morning.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital and underwent an amputation on his leg as well as a splenectomy but was left in critical condition.

Parson passed away on Wednesday with police still attempting to track down the culprit, who left a broken side mirror at the scene.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” said Bellator president Scott Coker in a statement.

“Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man.

Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport.

“It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”
