'Where's the ball gone?': Stunning KCLR commentary of Mount Leinster Rangers triumph

‘To all the begrudgers who didn’t give them a chance!’

IN CASE YOU didn’t feel the ground rumble in south Leinster yesterday, Mount Leinster Rangers defeated Oulart-The-Ballagh to claim a first ever Leinster senior hurling title for Carlow.

Nothing quite captures the mood of an occasion quite like local radio; the intense desire, the temporary loathing of the opponent and anyone who said MLR couldn’t win the day and, crucially, the settling of off-field political scores on air.

Here’s the hour-long chunk  from the Carlow Kilkenny station yesterday in which commentator Brendan Hennessy paints the picture.

If you’re an MLR club man or woman then you can let the sounds play in full and lull you off to a soothing dream, if not you can skip to the 15 minute mark for the crucial closing moments of the game.
