Connacht have issued an update on Mils Muliaina after last Friday's arrest

The former All Black was taken into custody after the westerners Challenge Cup defeat to Gloucester.

LAST FRIDAY AT Kingsholm featured one of the stranger incidents of the season as Connacht fullback Mils Muliaina was arrested after the province’s 14-7 defeat to Gloucester in the Champions Cup semi-final.

After Muliaina was taken into custody, a statement from the Gloucestershire police was released saying:

“A man in his 30s was arrested at Kingsholm Stadium tonight Friday, 3 April on suspicion of sexual assault in relation to an incident in Cardiff in March.

“The man will be handed over to officers from South Wales police, who are investigating the incident.”

Connacht have issued an update this evening and Muliaina is now back in Galway.

“Connacht Rugby can confirm that Mils Muliaina was released on bail, without charge, on Saturday April 4th. South Wales Police are continuing their investigating into an alleged incident in Cardiff last month. Muliaina returned to Galway on Sunday April 5th having cooperated fully with police investigations. He denies any wrong doing and will meet with Connacht Rugby officials in the coming days to review the situation internally.”

The 100-cap international left Friday’s game during the first half with an adductor injury, which is set to rule him out for 2-3 weeks.

There was some good news for Connacht today though, as Bundee Aki and Eoin McKeon will both be available for selection when Ulster visit the Sportsgrounds this Saturday.
