ENGLAND FULLBACK MIKE Brown has been named the winner of the Six Nations player of the tournament award. Brown, who was the stand-out player for the tournament’s second placed side, edged out Ireland’s Brian O’Driscoll and Andrew Trimble for the top prize.
Brown, who scored four tries, beat 25 defenders and gained 543 metres for the English cause, received 34% of the public’s 68,000 votes. The rest of the top five was rounded out by Irish players with O’Driscoll [28%] and Trimble [10%] followed by Jonny Sexton and Rob Kearney. David Denton of Scotland was sixth while Danny Care of England was seventh.

Brown gave thanks to all the supporters that voted for him in the public, online poll.
Brown commented, “It was disappointing not to win the tournament overall but congratulations to Ireland, and I’m sure we’ll come back stronger next season.
“Finally a big thank you to all my team mates, backroom staff, and coaches for all the help they’ve given me through the tournament. I couldn’t perform on the field without them and it’s great to have that support.”
