MEATH’S STAR FORWARD Mickey Newman has emerged as a major doubt for Sunday’s Leinster SFC semi-final.

Newman injured his hamstring in training last week and now looks all but certain to miss the clash with Kildare in Croke Park (2pm).

The Kilmainham attacker was one of the standout performers in Meath’s quarter-final hammering of Carlow, scoring 3-2 of their 7-13 total.

There was better news for Royals boss Mick O’Dowed as Eoghan Harrington (jaw) and Bryan Menton (thumb) are fit to resume training this week and should be in contention to feature on Sunday.
