Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy launches foul-mouthed attack on his critics

The former Ireland manager certainly didn’t hold back this afternoon.

FORMER IRELAND MANAGER Mick McCarthy has defended his record as manager of Ipswich Town after launching a scathing attack on his critics.

Earlier today, the Tractor Boys came from behind to draw the East Anglian derby against local rivals Norwich City, leaving Ipswich sitting in 13th place in the Championship table.

However, some supporters are not happy with the Portman Road club’s start to the season with the side having won one of their opening four league matches, with the team already out of the League Cup after losing to League Two Stevenage earlier in the month.

But McCarthy was in fighting mood when he spoke to the reporters after today’s game, with the Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill documenting the former Ireland captain’s frustration with his side’s supporters.

“I get sick to death. We play one bad half and we’re all s**t and we can’t play. The manager doesn’t care. Get somebody who cares. I’m a boring c**t, somebody called me last week,” the former Sunderland manager said.

“I wish they would call it to my face on my own. Because his pint of lager, he would have been wearing it.

“I heard the comments and let me tell you if that’s what they think about me and my team then they are sadly mistaken. I’m not having that.

“It really does hurt me, that. Up and down like a bloody fiddler’s elbow. I’m alright one week but I’m not the next.”

McCarthy was appointed manager of the club in 2012, and helped them avoid relegation in his first season in charge, having taking over the club at the bottom of the table.

In the following three seasons the Suffolk-based side have finished in 9th, 6th and 7th, despite having one of the smallest budgets in the division.
