Michael Laudrup announced as the new manager of Swansea City

It’s a big name for the only Welsh club in the Premier League, as the Dane replaces Brendan Rodgers.

MICHAEL LAUDRUP HAS been appointed as the new manager of Swansea City, taking over from Brendan Rodgers.
The Dane, who has previously managed Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca, has reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Welsh club.

Laudrup’s appointment represents a massive coup for the club’s chairman Huw Jenkins, who was seeking someone who would continue with the same footballing ethos as Rodgers, a passing style that saw Swansea finish 11th in their first season in the Premier League.

The 48-year-old Laudrup, who scored 37 goals in 104 appearances for Denmark, resigned from Mallorca last September after falling out with the club’s owner, Lorenzo Serra Ferrer.

“Swansea City are pleased to confirm the appointment of Michael Laudrup as the club’s new manager,” read a statement on the Swansea website.

“Contracts were completed at noon today on a two-year deal.”
