DAVID MAYLER HAS been placed on standby as Giovanni Trapattoni’s final Ireland squad to face Austria and Sweden in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers was announced this evening.

DAVID MAYLER HAS been placed on standby as Giovanni Trapattoni’s final Ireland squad to face Austria and Sweden in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers was announced this evening.
The Hull man has ultimately missed out on a place in the 23, with others being preferred in the central midfield position.
Meanwhile, it was earlier announced that Aiden McGeady, Sean St Ledger and Joey O’Brien would be unavailable due to injury, though a statement explained that O’Brien could still feature for West Ham tomorrow. It read:
