MESUT OZIL FEELS he is reaping the benefits of a full pre-season with Arsenal, having enjoyed a bright start to the season.
The Germany international tops the Premier League assist chart with nine after 10 games and has created more chances than any other player in the English top flight, according to Opta.
After suffering with injury last term, the World Cup winner feels he is much fitter this year and is happy with his performances, as his side look to challenge for the league title.
“Last season, I was out with my knee injury for a few months,” he told Arsenal’s official website.
“This year I feel fit. I have no injuries and can perform well in games. “At the moment, things are going really well.”
The Gunners sit joint top of the table with Manchester City and take on Tottenham in Sunday’s north London derby, and Ozil is impressed with the team spirit building in the dressing room.
“We fight for each other and are like a small family. You can sense that on the pitch. It shows that we are hungry for success and that’s why I want to praise the whole team.
“You see in the games that we can change players. Olivier Giroud is a different type of player to Theo Walcott or Alexis Sanchez.
“We have important and good players in attack who are hungry for goals.
Those three have scored many goals already this season and you can see that we need them because they always want to score. That’s good for Arsenal.”
Turnaround in form …the guy has the best games per assist rate in PL history …
Is there a trophy for that? Wait, I forgot…this is the club that celebrates finishing 4th like they’ve won the bloody Champions League… of course there’s a trophy for Ozil
That’s a fairly regurgitated cliche at this stage.
“Best games per assists” Darragh? What does that mean?
Classy guy, great for the premier league.
No there isn’t Beano , he does have a world cup winners medal though if that counts ….
It doesn’t count for the purpose of this discussion Darragh which is about his turn around in form…..for Arsenal. All I would say is that after two and a half seasons for a €40m plus player….it’s about bloody time.
When the chips are down he’s the man to turn to. No wait….
Is this a joke?
What’s funny about it?
Seen him hiding the other night and in a lot of big games. Wasn’t even sure he was on the pitch when we played them at the Emirates. If Arsenal are playing well, he plays well. Never inspires the team to lift there game if they have an off day.
You played at the Emirates Ciaran?
@ciaran he’s the best CAM form wise in the world :)
Riyad Mahrez
He makes Arsenal play well when he plays well
As I said, He plays well when Arsenal are on form and Arsenal have been a little inconsistent of late.
Or maybe Arsenal are playing well because he’s playing well, not the other way around
Or alternatively he makes Arsenal play well when he plays well
Dier is gonna own him later on today!?! COYS
