RORY McILROY LIES five shots off the lead at the Bridgestone-Invitational at Akron, following an impressive third round of 67.
The US Open champion is joint tenth on seven-under-par for the tournament, and still very much in the hunt for glory, with Adam Scott of Australia posting a 66 to lie.
Round of the day went to world number one Luke Donald, whose six-under 64 saw him temporarily tie for the lead, having been out of contention at the halfway point.
Scott’s first round 62 was only one off the Firestone record set by Tiger Woods, and he showed no signs of fading as he opened up a single shot lead over Ryo Ishikawa and compatriot Jason Day.

Woods, meanwhile, has had a tournament to forget on his return from injury. The American carded a two-over 72 to leave himself struggling in joint 38th.
