NOTHERN IRELAND’S MOST successful sporting export, Rory McIlroy, will play the opening 36 holes of this week’s lucrative World Golf Championship event, the Cadillac Championship, in the company of Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.
The trio are scheduled to tee off at 11.50am on the tenth tee of Doral’s challenging “Blue Monster” layout.
While relations between the US Open champion and Westwood have been strained since the former’s decision to leave management stable ISM, a business in which the Englishman is believed to have a financial interest, the Northerner is thought to be on better terms with Donald, the man he deposed as World No1 with victory at last week’s Honda Classic.
Also in the field is last year’s Open champion, Darren Clarke, who’ll play the opening rounds alongside Y.E. Yang and three-time major champion Vijay Singh.
