Mounting cost: McFadden joins list of injured as Reddan heads for surgery

The Leinster duo suffered as Ireland could only draw with France on Saturday.

LEINSTER UTILITY BACK Fergus McFadden has been added to the long list of injured players unavailable to Declan Kidney.

The 26-year-old suffered a broken rib during Ireland’s 13-13 draw with France on Saturday.

The centre and winger will now miss out on the chance to win his 18th cap this weekend when Ireland travel to Rome hoping to claim their second win of the Championship.

A full injury update will be issued this afternoon when after the squad has re-assembled at Carton House, but on Saturday Declan Kidney had already issued the bad news on Eoin Reddan.

The scrum-half, who was a controversial replacement for man-of-the-match Conor Murray at the Aviva Stadium, suffered a broken leg in the late stages of the drawn game.

Reddan will have surgery on the break this week and has been ruled out for three months, a time-frame which will end the 32-year-old’s season.
