Conor McGregor headlines UFC Dublin in July. Gregory Payan

'As soon as he steps off the plane, he's stepping onto a battlefield' - McGregor

The Irish UFC fighter had a heated exchange with his opponent for the Dublin event on air yesterday.

CONOR MCGREGOR stepped up the war of words with his latest opponent Cole Miller yesterday.

The Irish MMA fighter, who has won his first two fights in the UFC, will headline the upcoming event in Dublin on 19 July by taking on American featherweight Miller.

And on last night’s episode of The MMA Hour, McGregor went on the offensive — calling the 30-year-old “slow”.

“18 fights in the UFC… One time he mentions my name, and where does he end up?” McGregor told host Ariel Helwani. “He ends up on the main event.

“I want him to thank me. I want him to thank me right now on this air, thank me for giving him this opportunity. For allowing him to have this main event slot.

“As soon as that man steps off the plane, he is stepping onto a battlefield,” McGregor added. “He knows it, I know it. He opened his mouth. I didn’t even give a shit about him. Nobody in the UFC gave a shit about him.

He opened his mouth, he should’ve kept quiet. There’s a Celtic saying, ‘many a times a man’s mouth broke his nose.’ And this is one more of those sayings. That man opens his mouth, and I’m going to break his nose.”

“Cole, I’m going to break you. You’re too slow. You’re the slowest motherfucker I’ve ever seen! You’re the slowest in the division!”

Miller, who compared McGregor’s trash-talk to Cassius Clay, responded: “He’s talking about stopping me in the first round? I’m going to be the one that stops him in the first round.

“His jaw is going to be so weak from running his mouth, the first punch I’m going to hit with is going to lay him out.”
