VIDEO: Matthew Syed is not a fan of Roman Abramovich

The journalist claims questions remain over how the Chelsea owner “amassed his wealth”.

IT’S TEN YEARS since Roman Abramovich became owner of Chelsea, but journalist and author Matthew Syed is not prepared to celebrate the occasion.

The ex-Olympian claims questions remain over “how he amassed his wealth” and feels most neutral football fans are similarly suspicious of the Russian billionaire.

He urged people to look at the “wider moral context” and claimed these issues have had a “deeply corrosive influence on British football”.

Was actually interesting, factual and thought provoking, all things you wouldn’t associate with Sky Sports News. Cascarino and the presenters were arguing Abramovich’s corner of course.

Oh and Kirsty Gallacher should really stick to reading the autocue. She did her self no favours on that segment.

Fair play to Matthew Syed, calling it as he sees it. Not afraid of the bullying tactics by the cheerleading brigade that is Sky Sports. A fantasticaly well made and argued opinion. Anyone else think that Tony is a little out of his depth? Syed v Cascarino is akin to Jeremy Paxman v Russell Brand.

Russell Brand? He’s actually quite intelligent and articulate.

Russell Brand would go toe to toe with Paxman in his sleep. Remember he is a life long West Ham fan plus a plain great orator. For a Cockney ;-) !!!! [ If anyone's seen the Brand X series based in the States recently it's a good 'un! ]

I have to agree with the two previous comments.
I was watching it yesterday and was shocked that Sky Sports News had such an interview. Normally it’s a load of brown nosing and chatting to Harry Redknapp in a car park. Cascarino came across as a complete tool, a joke of a journalist compared with Syed. Pity it wasn’t a longer clip. Could have watched a whole hour of it.

A friend of mine likened Syed being next to Cascarino as having a mainframe supercomputer beside an abacus

If brand is a lifelong hammers fan then I guess you could call lovejoy a hardcore Chelsea fan.
