NEMANJA MATIC ADMITS it is not easy to work with Jose Mourinho at times, but claims he has never worked with a better manager than his current boss.
Matic worked with Mourinho at Chelsea before reuniting with him at Old Trafford ahead of this season and has played a key role in United’s bright start to the campaign.
The Red Devils are unbeaten in the Premier League and just two points behind Manchester City, while they have a perfect record in the Champions League group stage, with Matic playing every minute in both competitions so far.
While the Serbia international has a great deal of respect for the two-time Champions League winning manager, he says it can be difficult to live up to Mourinho’s expectations.
“Mourinho is a brand, and the best coach I’ve ever worked with,” he said to Serbian magazine Elevate.
“Sometimes it isn’t easy to work with him, because he always demands more. Even when you play the best match in your career, he considers that you can play better in the next match.
I cooperated excellently with him at Chelsea, and the fact that Mourinho is the coach at Manchester was the decisive factor in choosing my new environment.
“Privately he’s completely different from the way he is perceived by the general public. This is a man who possesses all human virtues. He’s not at all cold or conceited, as he is presented in the media.”
With United looking to get back to the top of English and European football, the club could not have put their faith in a better coach, the 29-year-old says.
“Mourinho has created an excellent group of players with huge potential, and everything is there for us to achieve good results.
“I don’t want to talk about the goals of the club, but when I mention Manchester United I think the ambitions are clear to everyone.
“The fact that I’m playing for United is the pinnacle of my career and of everything I’ve achieved in football.
“I really like it in Manchester, and the family has got used to the city. I needed very little to make me happy in my new environment — just to be together with my wife Aleksandra, my six-year-old son Filip and three-year-old daughter Tea.
“The children have a good school in Manchester, and I’m particularly glad that my son started football training. He has a place reserved in United’s junior ranks.”

Of course he’s probably a decent bloke. Some people, obviously on the 42, eat up all the sound bites we are given by blood thirsty media interrogations and take it personally. Don’t be duped by what the media feeds you, I’m sure it’s the stuff you don’t know that’s going on that’s the real dirty carry on. If you think this comment is about you, it probably is.
#KingMessiTheGOAT
@Brian: but we have eyes, ears and most of us a brain, we don’t need sound bites to know what he’s like.
@Mick Power: haha ya numpty. And where are your eyes, ears and brain receiving this info from… The media! Get a grip
@Mick Power: please just also remember when you’re in the cinema, they are paid actors reciting from a script. The bad guy isn’t real. Good boy.
@Brian: right so it’s an actor giving the press conferences, attacking other coaches and his own. If it’s all an act then it still doesn’t make him a decent guy. Remember the brain bit, try using it.
@Brian: you’d give trump a run for his money. I suppose I better spell it out more. By eyes I mean we can see what he does, ears we can actually hear what he says. Won’t explain the brain bit to you.
@Mick Power: are you really that simple? It’s common bloody knowledge that people in front of the camera aren’t behaving their genuine selves. Never mind when those people are in front of the camera being practically interrogated and goaded, and not just Jose. That’s just the whole idea in it’s most basic form, I won’t even try to break it down for you if you can’t grasp that part. I can’t believe how ridiculous your argument is. So… “People in the media aren’t always portrayed or behaving accurately or naturally”… your argument to that = “no they are because I hear and see them through the media!” … like are you for real man? Why bother writing that tripe. Don’t know why I’m even dignifying it with a reply. Not again.
@Brian: Christ Brian I knew you were gullible but it seems your thick as well. Was attacking the Barcelona coach an act? Was basically forcing his physio to quit an act? If so he deserves a feckin Oscar. And it still doesn’t make him a decent human being.
@Mick Power: gullible…. haha how ironic is that. And you should really check your grammar before saying “your thick” to someone. Unlike you I have a life and career and I’m able to distinguish working environments and living environments from one another. If you read my first post I’m not disagreeing that people can call Jose or whoever a c##t all they want but its the people like you who hold a genuine grudge that I laugh at.
@Brian: you’re on here more than me but it’s you that has the life and career! You know nothing bout me! And really bringing up grammar in an argument!! As for genuine grudges you’ve already said before you hate a football team. Sad.
@Mick Power: Wow. Stop stalking me, stranger. And learn about what a personal grudge is. And learn to breathe when a complete stranger is on TV saying things you don’t like. Anyway it’s all banter. Good lad.
@Brian: night Brian sleep well
…em…awkward!
Maybe someday he’ll play for someone like Pep or Ancelotti he’ll soon change his mind
Yes the media…not all to see hus treatment of female doctor. He is a knob…
