Marty Morrissey is an ambassador for a bizarre All-Ireland championship event next month

Have you heard of churn rolling?

THE MATCH PROGRAMME for yesterday’s Munster hurling semi-final between Tipperary and Limerick was a standard production until something jumped out as we leafed through the pages.

There on page 42 was the revelation that Marty Morrissey is an All-Ireland championship ambassador.

Nothing strange about that, except that it’s not an All-Ireland GAA event that Morrissey is involved in but the sport of churn rolling.

We have to confess that we don’t have a churn-rolling correspondent in The42 towers but have been able to obtain footage of recent churn-rolling championships to illustrate what this strange sport is all about.
