Martin Skrtel scores the most embarrassing own goal you'll see for a long time

The Liverpool defender won’t want to replay this again

LIVERPOOL DEFENDER MARTIN Skrtel had a moment to forget last night.

Competing for Slovakia against Greece, he played a back-pass to goalkeeper Jan Mucha, who somehow failed to control the ball and let it trickle into the net.

Worse still for Skrtel and co, it proved to be the pivotal moment in the game, as Greece emerged 1-0 winners.

And it’s not the first time such an incident has happened in a big international game. Who could forget the similar misfortune suffered by Gary Neville and Paul Robinson for England against Croatia a few years back?

Opinion: Last night’s Ireland-Germany match was as depressing as the 6-1 game in its own way
