The Scottish champions are on the lookout for a new manager following Neil Lennon’s departure.
The Ireland boss confirmed that the Corkman will travel to London with the squad but stopped short on saying that he will still be in his current role by the time the group depart for America.
“Nothing has happened, I don’t think anything is going to happen until after the weekend. It is just speculation and until something materialises I think that’s the best way to deal with it.”
O’Neill reiterated how disappointed he would be if the former Ireland captain does decide to leave the set-up — but added that he is not surprised that Keane has been strongly linked with the vacancy.
“These type of things are going to rear their heads at some stage or an other, you prepare yourself for things. It’s not a major problem in the sense that something’s going to crop up. As we said the other day, there’s never a dull moment.”
The Boys in Green depart for Craven Cottage this afternoon without Anthony Stokes. The Celtic striker picked up a calf injury in training at the Aviva Stadium last night and has returned home for treatment.
