Snapshot: Donegal's Mark English brings home the bronze from European Champs

The 21-year-old made the podium in the 800m and also helped the 400m relay team set a new national record.

AFTER WINNING A bronze medal with a terrific performance in the 800 metres at the European Championships Mark English was always set to be the hero of Ireland’s European Championship week.

English finished the two-lap distance in 1:45.03 before also contributing to the men’s 4 x 400m relay team that set a new national record time of 3:01.47 to claim fifth place overall with a time that historically would have put them on the podium, the Donegal man’s place was assured.
