GAA director general Paraic Duffy was on hand to see his club win their first county crown in 20 years, beating Clontibret by a comfortable 2-16 to 0-7.
The day was made even more special by the fact that his son, Mark, was Scotstown’s corner-back.
The Mick Duffy Cup, presented to the county football champions each year, is named after Duffy’s father who was a long-serving chairman of the Monaghan county board.
“Me, my mam and my dad…and my granda’s cup,” Mark Duffy tweeted last night. “Not a bad day.”

IT WAS A family affair in Clones yesterday as Scotstown ended their long wait for the Monaghan senior football title.
