United: Rashford accepts responsibility over FA Cup omission due to 'disciplinary matter'

Rashford was left out of the Newport game due to illness after reportedly spending Thursday night in a Belfast nightclub.

MANCHESTER UNITED SAY Marcus Rashford โ€œhas taken responsibility for his actionsโ€ after his omission from the squad for Sundayโ€™s FA Cup win at Newport.

Rashford was left out due to illness after reportedly spending Thursday night in a Belfast nightclub, but United say the issue has now been resolved.

United said in a statement: โ€œMarcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.โ€

Rashford has returned to training and is understood to be in contention for Thursday nightโ€™s Premier League trip to Wolves.

United boss Erik ten Hag had sought to deflect the attention on Rashfordโ€™s absence on Sunday, simply stressing that it was โ€œinternal matterโ€.

Ten Hag had previously criticised Rashfordโ€™s โ€œunacceptableโ€ decision to attend a nightclub shortly after Unitedโ€™s 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City in November.

Said it years ago, he is basically another Walcott. A Villa or Everton player at best.

Itโ€™s time to cash out on Rashford- heโ€™s a big name and lots of clubs would take a chance on him still. He will never have the mindset to be relied on consistently for 25 + goals a season and now the confidence & attitude has taken a turn for the worst. The introduction of Sancho seems to have not helped his cause.. What a toxic ( and useless) signing he was.
