JOHNNY MANZIEL MUST do his talking on the field after his high-profile Cleveland Browns move, franchise owner Jimmy Haslam has warned.
Manziel was widely expected to be the number one pick in the 2014 draft, but was overlooked by a number of sides, allowing the Browns to pick him up in the 22nd selection.
The 21-year-old, nicknamed ‘Johnny Football’ has made a number of headlines for his conduct away from the sport, gaining a reputation for partying despite the Browns’ pre-season plans being well under way.

And Haslam issued a note of caution when discussing the rookie quarterback, hoping he will be able to shine for his on-field actions.
“He made some mistakes. We expect better from him,” Haslam said after the Browns’ first pre-season practice on Saturday.
“I’m sure he’ll perform. We’re anxious to see what he can do on the field, which is what really counts. The really great athletes make their news on the field, not off the field.”
Huge crowds flocked to see Manziel practice for the first time with his new team-mates and the Heisman Trophy winner was quick to echo the sentiments of Haslam, insisting he is looking to learn from his previous misdemeanours.
“Luckily for me I’m living out my dream of playing in the NFL and having a ton of fun,” he said.
“My dream has come true, and I finally have the chance to get some down time and celebrate that with my family and friends. I mean, this is the greatest life I could have ever imagined for myself, and I’m loving that.
“Will I continue to get better being a professional and learn lessons about life? Of course. I’m 21 years old.
“Age is not an excuse, but I need to mature, and I have done some immature things, but moving forward I’m going to try to mature, and try to handle myself better as a professional.”
