Mane men: the important points from this morning's Lions announcement

BOD and POC are among the nine Irish to make the cut — but there’s no place for Best, Zebo, O’Mahony or Ryan.

1. There are nine Irish Lions in total

They are Rob Kearney, Tommy Bowe, Brian O’Driscoll, Jonny Sexton, Conor Murray, Cian Healy, Paul O’Connell, Sean O’Brien and Jamie Heaslip.

2. But there’s disappointment for…

Rory Best, Simon Zebo, Peter O’Mahony and Donncha Ryan, none of who have made the cut.

3. Sam Warburton is the Tour captain

The 24-year-old Welsh skipper will lead the squad as a first-time tourist.

4. Unsurprisingly Wales have the most representatives

The 37-man squad is made up of 15 Welsh, 10 English, nine Irish and three Scots.

5. There’s no Jonny Wilkinson or Chris Robshaw

Sky Sports News are sorted for conversation topics for the rest of the day so.

6. Gatland has only picked two out-halves

Let’s hope that Sexton and Farrell stay injury-free for the summer so.
