MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling.
According to The Guardian, United are ready to pounce after Sterling turned down a new contract offer — worth £100,00 per week — to stay with the club he joined at the age of 15.
Louis van Gaal has already spent £25m on bringing Dutch star Memphis Depay to Old Trafford for next season, and although Liverpool would be reluctant to sell to one of their main rivals, the United boss has registered his interest in Sterling nevertheless.
Sterling is set to meet Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre tomorrow to discuss his contract stand-off, with Manchester City also seemingly willing to offer the England star a £150,000-a-week deal.
The 20-year-old is contracted to Liverpool until 2017 but was booed by some supporters on Tuesday when he picked up the club’s young player of the year award.
As a united fan for many a yr I personally don’t want him to join United . It’s not d fact he is a Liverpool player but it’s that I don’t really rate d lad and we would have to spend crazy dosh on a unproven performer.

Phil Chisnall 51 years ago was last player to move between the 2 clubs. Can’t blame the player for showing ambition and wanting a bigger stage to showcase his talents. A useful addition to Uniteds’ squad if it goes ahead.

Liverpool handled the Suarez situation brilliantly two seasons ago and ended up getting twice what they were offered by Arsenal.
I’m sure they will try the same with Sterling. If they don’t get a huge offer for him they will play hard ball, ask him to sign a contract extension( with a pay raise) with the agreement to sell at the end of next season.
The fact his wages are so low strengthens Liverpool’s position.

As a Liverpool supporter, I can’t wait for him to leave. His finishing and end product is shocking. Show me one other attacking player, with 7 goals this season who wants that sort of money? Take Suarez, he was 23,24 when he got a big money move to Liverpool, and 27 when he got a huge move to Barcelona, after proving himself for a number of years. This tosser wants the big move at 20, well I cant wait on City,Chelsea, PSG, whoever, to have this lad warming their bench after discovering he’s massively overrated.

You’re right don’t let it slip. United & Liverpool don’t ever sell players directly to one another. In recent history Paul Ince & Michael Owen have played for both clubs but played for at least one other club in between. I’m sure it’s not the policy of either club but they know their fans would never accept a player transferred directly from their deadliest rivals.
