MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling.
According to The Guardian, United are ready to pounce after Sterling turned down a new contract offer โ worth ยฃ100,00 per week โ to stay with the club he joined at the age of 15.
Louis van Gaal has already spent ยฃ25m on bringing Dutch star Memphis Depay to Old Trafford for next season, and although Liverpool would be reluctant to sell to one of their main rivals, the United boss has registered his interest in Sterling nevertheless.
Sterling is set to meet Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre tomorrow to discuss his contract stand-off, with Manchester City also seemingly willing to offer the England star a ยฃ150,000-a-week deal.
The 20-year-old is contracted to Liverpool until 2017 but was booed by some supporters on Tuesday when he picked up the clubโs young player of the year award.
As a united fan for many a yr I personally donโt want him to join United . Itโs not d fact he is a Liverpool player but itโs that I donโt really rate d lad and we would have to spend crazy dosh on a unproven performer.
Van Gaal must of rang up while he was still locked!
Thatโs what they were all laughing at the the players award the other night ! A prank call to Brendan Rodgers about sterling
Oh god please donโt let it be true.
77 years since a player moved directly from Liverpool to United.
Phil Chisnall 51 years ago was last player to move between the 2 clubs. Canโt blame the player for showing ambition and wanting a bigger stage to showcase his talents. A useful addition to Unitedsโ squad if it goes ahead.
More like going from the frying pan to the fire.
No no please say no. This guy is an overhyped headless chicken. Donโt want to see him at OT.
Tell me this is not true itโs a centre half we need
We?
The ManU Borg Collective. Resistance is futile.
Wouldnโt this be gas
Haha this would be great id love to see it
United have done their homework and paid what they thought was a better deal in getting Depay . This is not happening.
Never going to happen, the silly season never ends
Liverpool handled the Suarez situation brilliantly two seasons ago and ended up getting twice what they were offered by Arsenal.
Iโm sure they will try the same with Sterling. If they donโt get a huge offer for him they will play hard ball, ask him to sign a contract extension( with a pay raise) with the agreement to sell at the end of next season.
The fact his wages are so low strengthens Liverpoolโs position.
Suarez had a lot longer left on heโs contract so itโs totally different
But he was on more money that Sterling is now and still signed a contract extension didnโt he.
You think Sterling wants to stay on 35k a week for the next 2 seasons(or even next season)?
150k a week oh no
As a Liverpool supporter, I canโt wait for him to leave. His finishing and end product is shocking. Show me one other attacking player, with 7 goals this season who wants that sort of money? Take Suarez, he was 23,24 when he got a big money move to Liverpool, and 27 when he got a huge move to Barcelona, after proving himself for a number of years. This tosser wants the big move at 20, well I cant wait on City,Chelsea, PSG, whoever, to have this lad warming their bench after discovering heโs massively overrated.
No. Just No.
Not happening Kris , reports say that madrid wonโt sell Bale in the summer so that story is cold now for a few weeks at least , this sterling nonsense is nothing more then a page filler
I think heโs muckโฆ. Some man to dribble a ball but then either falls over it or fluffs the shot, every time. Being a Blackburn fan some of ye might question my knowledge of football but Sterling is completely overrated!!
Youโre right donโt let it slip. United & Liverpool donโt ever sell players directly to one another. In recent history Paul Ince & Michael Owen have played for both clubs but played for at least one other club in between. Iโm sure itโs not the policy of either club but they know their fans would never accept a player transferred directly from their deadliest rivals.
Boll.
Ocks.
Shore up the defence. Sort out De gea. Bring nani back (paying his wages anyway) and see if he is up for it . No need for sterling. Itโs a page filler. Gonna be a long off season ha ha
Its only pulling the p*ss, wont happen and reports are that Liverpool have told United to go away. As said 77 since it happened and with the Heinze episode since and everything else with Evra/Suarez then it aint going to happen.
Only trying to throw a spanner in the works and up the price bit like with Charlie Adam
Its bad enough for liverpool fans him wanting to leave, they would riot if he was sold to Utd. Not happening. Ever.
Also, Pogba (as good as he turned out to be) was also a bad influence on young players in the dressing room, where ever sterling ends upโฆnext contract talks for him, expect the same carry on again. Not worth the hassle unless he changes agent.
Is Rooney a bad influence on the young lads when he regularly throws his hissy fits when heโs looking for new improved contracts, perhaps he led Poges astray..
Still to the journal with your babbling nonsense!
Lol as if United would take him, heโs rubbish, should stay in Liverpool, heโs mid table standard.
Rather get Benson and Hedges from mike basset than sterling.
Utd are going to be linked with every player you can think of now. Silly season is upon us.
Why buy an unproven over rated diva that runs like a camp thunderbird? Sure we are busting at the seems with them!
No no no
Yeah and Suarez now playing great football with Barcelona.
No brainier!!
Swap with di Maria any day the week, sterling is an over rated money grabbing dope, 8 league goals and he thinks heโs shit hot . Sell him
Silly season has started
Fools and their money are easily parted!
Donโt want Sterling but it would be hilarious to take Liverpoolโs best player!
Sell him to United while he is still worth something.
