ARSENAL TRAVELLED TO Anfield to face First Division leaders Liverpool on the last day of the season. A 24-match unbeaten run had seen the Reds leapfrog the Gunners and Kenny Dalglish’s men held a three-point advantage going into the game.
The odds were stacked against George Graham’s side, who needed to beat the FA Cup winners by at least two goals to claim the title. Alan Smith opened the scoring on 52 minutes but as the clock struck 90 minutes, the Merseysiders looked to have one hand on the title.

HAVING ALREADY WON the Premier League and FA Cup double, Alex Ferguson took his Manchester United team to the Nou Camp for the 1999 Champions League final without the services of his suspended midfield pair Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.
Nicky Butt and David Beckham were their replacements in the centre of the park against German giants Bayern Munich and Mario Basler’s free-kick after six minutes saw the Red Devils fall behind.
As United rode their luck, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were thrown to find an equaliser and the pair miraculously went one better by grabbing a goal each on 91 and 93 minutes.
