ACCORDING TO REPORTS today, Manchester United are considering paying the much-maligned midfielder Anderson to leave.
The 26 year-old joined from Porto in 2007 amid claims that he would prove the eventual replacement for Paul Scholes. United spent £26m to bring the then-teenager to the Premier League but his time at Old Trafford has been immensely disappointing.
Still, despite an uninspiring start to his career at the club, he signed a new, long-term contract with United in October 2010. But writing in The Telegraph, Mark Ogden has revealed the club is now considering getting out of the agreement early, the cost of which would amount to about £1.6m.
Farmed out to Serie A side Fiorentina last season on a six-month loan deal, Anderson returned to Manchester in the summer – the Italian outfit not keen on a permanent transfer.

Though Anderson has featured twice for the side this season (90 minutes in that humiliating 4-0 Legaue Cup defeat to MK Dons and a brief cameo in the scoreless draw with Burnley), he’s surplus to requirements under Louis van Gaal.
