ALVARO NEGREDO AND Yaya Toure were on the scoresheet at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon as Manchester City got their league campaign back on track against Hull City.
Negredo opened the scoring for City, who lost against Cardiff last weekend, and Toure sealed the win. His superbly curled free-kick made it 2-0. Negredo, signed from Sevilla in the summer, headed in from six yards after a pinpoint cross from compatriot Pablo Zabaleta.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini took off David Silva and Sergio Aguero as he looked to see out the tie and secure the points. City’s meek attacking prods scarcely deserved a second goal but it duly arrived on 90 minutes.

Samir Nasri was felled on the edge of the box and Toure curled home a beauty that went top corner despite a back-pedalling Ahmed Elmohamady’s attempts to get back on the line.
Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor thwarted Aleksandar Kolarov and Joleon Lescott in the opening stages of the first half but the visitors could have scored two themselves. Robert Koren’s drive went close, minutes after Sone Aluko broke clear and slid the ball past Joe Hart only to see his effort zip wide.
Hull striker Danny Graham smashed the ball into Hart’s goal on 10 minutes, too, but his finish, from a Robbie Brady cross, was ruled out for offside.
City’s midfielders, including Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, were not having it all their own way and allowed their frustrations to boil over midway through the half. The Brazilian was yellow-carded for a rash challenge on Aluko.
The last effort of note in the opening half was a Yaya Toure header from six yards out that missed the target. Toure and his teammates took their chances in the second half, however, and City, for now, are up to second in the league.
