Manchester City complete Navas signing

The Spanish international joins the Premier League side from Sevilla.

MANCHESTER CITY HAVE confirmed the signing of winger Jesus Navas from Sevilla.

The Spain international joins the Premier League runners-up following a 10-year spell with the La Liga outfit.

Navas won six trophies in his time at Sevilla, winning the UEFA Europa League and Copa del Rey on two occasions, in addition to securing success in Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

The 27-year-old made 393 appearances during his career at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but is eager to take on a fresh challenge at the Etihad Stadium.

He told City’s official website: “Manchester City is an exciting project and this is the right moment for me to take this step. I’m very happy with the opportunity and the decision.

“The Premier League is a competition where the football is very fast and will suit the way I play. I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m going to a great club in England and I want to continue developing my game there. The club has put a lot of faith in me and I want to repay them out on the pitch.”

Navas was a member of the Spain teams that won both the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championships in 2012, and will link-up with compatriots David Silva and Javi Garcia for pre-season training after the FIFA Confederations Cup. He becomes City’s second signing of the off-season after Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho completed his switch from Shakhtar Donetsk.
