GOALS FROM FERNANDO Morientes and Reuben de la Red gave Real Madrid a 2-1 win over Manchester United (5-3 aggregate) in today’s charity Legends match.

Over 60,000 people turned out in Old Trafford to see the star lineups which included Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo for the visitors while Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole reformed their old strike partnership for United.

Morientes gave Madrid the lead six minutes from the break before Ruud van Nistelrooy, who played a half for both sides, equalised in the 68th minute.

Yorke had a chance to give United the lead and level the match on aggregate but his shot came back off the crossbar and Madrid took advantage to seal the win, de la Red flicking the ball over Raimond van der Gouw’s head.

United: Van der Sar (van der Gouw 70); Berg (Martin 9), Stam, Johnsen, Irwin; Blackmore (van Nistelrooy 46), Fortune, Scholes, Sharpe (Thornley 51, Blomqvist 87); Yorke, Cole.
Real Madrid: Contreras (Sanchez 62); Salgado (Pavon 69), Helguera, Pavon (McManaman 46), Amavisca; Figo (Vazquez 78), Hierro, Makelele (Sanz 62), Zidane; Morientes, van Nistelrooy (De la Red 46).
