Referee awards four penalties as City see off Spurs in Premier League early kick off

Sergio Aguero has grabbed a four for the champions.

MANCHESTER CITY STRIKER Sergio Aguero missed a spot kick but still scored four goals his side’s Premier League clash with Tottenham this afternoon, a game that saw the referee award no fewer than four penalties.

The Argentine attacker opened the scoring on 13 minutes when he peeled off to the left of the penalty area before whipping the ball into the far corner of Hugo Lloris’ goal:

However, Spurs were level from the kick off when Fernando was caught in possession with Christian Eriksen finishing off a three-on-one counter-attack:

Aguero restored City’s lead six minutes later when he added his second from the penalty spot after Frank Lampard went down rather easily:

He spurned his first chance to bag a hat-trick on 32 minutes when Younes Kaboul brought down David Silva only for the diminuative striker to miss from the spot:

The visitors had a chance to draw level themselves when Roberto Soldado was fouled by Martín Demichelis. The fact it was a foot outside the area didn’t seem to bother referee John Moss and he awarded a third spot kick only for Soldado to miss:

After Moss awarded yet another penalty to City on 68 minutes – sending off Fazio in the process – Aguero completed his hat-trick from the spot before adding a fourth from play on 75 minutes:
