A long way back for Mamadou Sakho as he starts for Liverpool's U23 team tonight

17-year-old Cork native Caomhin Kelleher is also included in the starting XI.

MAMADOU SAKHO HAS been included in Liverpoolโ€™s under-23 side for their International Cup clash with Wolfsburg at Tranmereโ€™s Prenton Park this evening.

The French international has been frozen out by Jurgen Klopp since he was sent home from the clubโ€™s pre-season tour of the United States for a breach of discipline.

Last weekend, the 26-year-old took to Snapchat to vent his frustrations at his treatment before subsequently removing the ill-advised messages.

Klopp has remained relatively tight-lipped regarding how heโ€™ll deal with Sakhoโ€™s latest indiscretion but relations between the pair have only soured since the close of the transfer window.

The Liverpool boss urged Sakho to move elsewhere on a temporary deal to reignite his career but he stayed put instead.

It would seem repairing the damage is an impossible job but at least Sakho is back on a football pitch.

Heโ€™ll be rubbing shoulders with a host of Liverpoolโ€™s youngsters โ€“ including 17-year-old goalkeeper and Cork native Caomhin Kelleher โ€“ but itโ€™s a start.
