Mafi's citation could rule him out of Heineken Cup opener

Citing complaint against Munster centre for high tackles on Gordon D’Arcy and Rob Kearney.

LIFEIMI MAFI’S CITATION for dangerous tackles on Leinster’s Gordon D’Arcy and Rob Kearney during last Saturday’s Magners League meeting could rule him out of Munster’s opening Heineken Cup match this Saturday against  London Irish.

Mafi tackled D’Arcy high after just nineteen minutes of the inter-provincial derby, but was not carded. He was booked in the second half for another high tackle on Kearney.

An IRFU hearing will consider the citing complaint, after the former New Zealand sevens player was cited under law 10.4 (e) for an alleged dangerous tackle and 10.4 (a) for allegedly punching or striking.

The hearing will be held this afternoon in Ravenhill and is to be chaired by Hugh Logan, assisted by Stephen Hilditch and Ian McIlrath.
