Macklin defeated by Golovkin in 3rd round KO

The Irish boxer failed to curtail the Kazakh fighter’s incredible record.

IRISH BOXER MATTHEW Macklin endured a disappointing loss to Gennady Golovkin last night at MGM Grand in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Macklin was comprehensively beaten (29-5) by KO, against the WBA middleweight champion.

The outcome marked a continuation of Golovkin’s phenomenal record in the sport.

He is undefeated in 27 fights, knocking out 24 of his opponents in the process, and has been WBA middleweight champion since 2010.

Macklin was considered his toughest test yet, but the Kazakh boxer had little difficulty in overcoming the challenge.
